Your Jewellery Valuation and
Appraisal Report
will usually contain the following sections:
| An introductory letter (Letter
of Transmittal)
|
|
This explains the markets under which the jewellery valuation has
been carried out.
|
|
Valuation Schedule
|
|
A full description of your jewellery is provided giving the nature
of construction and condition. All unhallmarked metals are tested
to establish the grade of gold or platinum used. Diamonds are
graded for colour and clarity, in addition, a plot diagram is
usually created for all diamonds over 1.00ct in weight. The colour
is also assessed for coloured gems too. All weights, dimensions and proportions are noted. A value, relative to the purpose of the
valuation, is recorded.
We try to give you as much information as possible about your possessions.

relating to your valuation |
Presentation
Your valuation report is bound in a quality folder which we hope
you will enjoy referring to. A separate summary report is supplied
for you to give to your Insurance Company or Solicitor.
Interesting Find?
If we find something that is exceptional or interesting about your piece of jewellery, we like to share it with you. This could be a nice example of an inclusion inside a gemstone that we photograph through our microscopes, a makers signature or an interesting piece of detail, or maybe some provenance that we have researched on your behalf. We view an appraisal as so much more than just a document to keep your Insurance Company happy.
Reports for those with sight or reading difficulties

If you have seeing or reading difficulties or are arranging a valuation for someone who has, we can produce special reports for you. In addition, these reports are supplied with a CD that contains an audio transcript of the
valuation documentation.

Our "Client for Life" Service
Once an appraisal has been carried out, you become part of our “Client for Life” service. This
includes:-
 |
No item fee
is charged for all future valuation of the same pieces. Unlike some, we do not think it fair to charge you again for future updates as all the hard work has already been done. We just charge you a documentation fee for producing a new
updated valuation report.
|
 |
Monitoring the changes in the value of your items. We send you a courtesy reminder when we feel that your items need to be updated in value. This ensures that you are always adequately
insured but also makes certain that your premiums are not
higher than necessary.
|
 |
Free and
advisory service. Advice on any aspect of jewellery, is freely available whenever required.
|
 |
Loss assistance. We assist in any way that we can in the event of a loss or burglary. We do not, however, supply jewellery to you.
|
 |
Free condition inspections. It makes good sense to have your jewellery checked periodically for wear. We offer a free
annual inspection. Your jewellery will be cleaned and we advise on any remedial action that should be considered. We do not, however, carry out the repairs but are happy to point you in the right direction.
|
These features make our service very cost effective to you and help you get the most out of your jewellery.
You may receive information periodically, that we feel may be of particular interest to you. For example:- We may draw your attention to an exhibition that features a maker that you have shown
interest in or we may point out a good article on antique jewellery in a magazine, if we know you have a fondness for antique jewellery.
This, and more, is all part of our service.
