
Adrian Smith is an independent Jewellery Valuer and Appraiser providing a comprehensive
jewellery valuation service for
private clients and some of Scotland's most prestigious jewellers.
Since entering the jewellery trade in 1975, Adrian Smith has been involved in almost all of the
jeweller's many and varied activities, from buying and selling to valuations and jewellery manufacture and repair.
He was trained by a well-known prestigious
jeweller in the South of England and moved to one of Scotland's premier
jewellers in
1989, before creating one of the most respected jewellery valuation
consultancies in 2000.
He became a holder of the Retail Jewellers Diploma in 1985 after gaining a Distinction in the National Association of Goldsmith's examinations. He subsequently earned a Fellowship with the Gemmological Association of Great Britain following the examinations of the
association and is a member of the Gem Testing Laboratory of Great Britain
He became one of the first Registered Valuers with the National Association of Goldsmiths in 1988 and is a Certified Appraiser with the Association of Jewellery Appraisers.

Adrian is also a member of various associations in the USA, including the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers and is a Senior Accredited Gemmologist with the Accredited Gemmologist Association.
Adrian is the current Chairman of the Association of Jewellery Appraisers.
In addition, he is actively involved in gemmology education in Scotland, is a committee member of the Scottish branch of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and an office bearer for The Edinburgh and East of Scotland Association of Goldsmith, Silversmiths and Watchmakers.
Adrian also advises fellow valuers both in the UK and in the United States, on valuation production techniques
